New Hampshire Population, Demographics, and Statistics
The total area of land in New Hampshire is 8,968 square miles. There are on average 137.8 people living within each square mile of the state. In 2000 there were 1,235,786 people living in the state within 474,606 households (averaging 2.53 people in each household) but by 2009 the population had increased to 1,324,575 with an estimated 7.2% change.

The average income per person in 1999 for New Hampshire was $23,844. By 2007 the income was $41,639. The average income in each household was $63,235 in 2008. The percentage of New Hampshire residents living in poverty in 2008 was 7.8%. The total personal income for the state in 2007 was $54,640 (in millions of dollars). The average per job earnings was $46,826 in 2007.

In 2009 there were about 600,251 housing units within the state of New Hampshire, a change of 53,231 from 2000 (or about 9.7%). The percentage of housing units that were occupied by the owner in 2000 was 69.7%. The median value of each house was about $133,300 in the state in 2000. 2,287 building permits were issued in 2009 totaling $420,774 (thousands of dollars) in estimated value.

The number of New Hampshire births in the year 2006 was 14,378 while the number of deaths occuring during the same year was 10,060. Infant deaths that year numbered 87.
