The total area of land in Nevada is 109,825 square miles. There are on average 18.2 people living within each square mile of the state. In 2000 there were 1,998,257 people living in the state within 751,165 households (averaging 2.62 people in each household) but by 2009 the population had increased to 2,643,085 with an estimated 32.3% change.

The average income per person in 1999 for Nevada was $21,989. By 2007 the income was $39,853. The average income in each household was $56,432 in 2008. The percentage of Nevada residents living in poverty in 2008 was 11.2%. The total personal income for the state in 2007 was $101,799 (in millions of dollars). The average per job earnings was $45,845 in 2007.

In 2009 there were about 1,138,012 housing units within the state of Nevada, a change of 310,552 from 2000 (or about 37.5%). The percentage of housing units that were occupied by the owner in 2000 was 60.9%. The median value of each house was about $142,000 in the state in 2000. 6,764 building permits were issued in 2009 totaling $748,688 (thousands of dollars) in estimated value.

The number of Nevada births in the year 2006 was 40,027 while the number of deaths occuring during the same year was 18,872. Infant deaths that year numbered 257.




In 2007, Nevada jobs totaled 1,666,531 across all industries. This was a change of 398,532 jobs from 2000. The number of Nevada jobs in government in 2007 was 168,913. Workers traveled an average of 23.3 minutes to work each day.
