Idaho Population, Demographics, and Statistics
The total area of land in Idaho is 82,747 square miles. There are on average 15.6 people living within each square mile of the state. In 2000 there were 1,293,953 people living in the state within 469,645 households (averaging 2.69 people in each household) but by 2009 the population had increased to 1,545,801 with an estimated 19.5% change.

The average income per person in 1999 for Idaho was $17,841. By 2007 the income was $31,804. The average income in each household was $47,561 in 2008. The percentage of Idaho residents living in poverty in 2008 was 12.5%. The total personal income for the state in 2007 was $47,583 (in millions of dollars). The average per job earnings was $36,155 in 2007.

In 2009 there were about 647,502 housing units within the state of Idaho, a change of 119,677 from 2000 (or about 22.7%). The percentage of housing units that were occupied by the owner in 2000 was 72.4%. The median value of each house was about $106,300 in the state in 2000. 4,863 building permits were issued in 2009 totaling $804,866 (thousands of dollars) in estimated value.

The number of Idaho births in the year 2006 was 24,184 while the number of deaths occuring during the same year was 10,613. Infant deaths that year numbered 165.




In 2007, Idaho jobs totaled 947,483 across all industries. This was a change of 159,554 jobs from 2000. The number of Idaho jobs in government in 2007 was 126,704. Workers traveled an average of 20.0 minutes to work each day.

The percentage of the population who were female in 2009 was 49.8%. The population classified as white was 1,459,145 (94.4%), black: 15,827 (1.0%), Asian: 18,301 (1.2%), two or more races: 26,356 (1.7%), Hispanic or Latino: 165,285 (10.7%).

The total listed sales for manufacturing in Idaho was $15,174,196 (thousands of dollars) in 2002, total listed wholesale sales was $11,458,012 (thousands of dollars), and total listed retail sales of $13,540,952 (thousands of dollars).
