| Minneapolis is city in the eastern part of the state of Minnesota. On the Mississippi River, with a population of about 390,000 the city is the forty-eighth largest in the United States. Over three and half million residents live in the MSA are of Minneapolis. Although settled since the 1600s, the city was not formed until 1867.
