The total area of the land in King County is 2,126 square miles. There are on average 817.0 people living within each square mile of the county. In 2000 there were 1,737,034 people living in the county within 710,916 households (averaging 2.39 people in each household) but by 2009 the population had increased to 1,916,441 with an estimated 10.3% change.

The average income per person in 1999 for King County, WA was $29,521. By 2007 the income was $57,710. The average income in each household was $70,091 in 2008. The percentage of King County residents living in poverty in 2008 was 9.2%. The total personal income for the county in 2007 was $106,805 (in millions of dollars). The average per job earnings was $64,540 in 2007.

In 2009 there were about 837,998 housing units within the county, a change of 95,756 from 2000 (or about 12.9%). The percentage of housing units that were occupied by the owner in 2000 was 59.8%.
